ashley and i embark on our second road trip of the year today. our last was six months ago when we went to buffalo, followed by a spontaneous drive from buffalo to cleveland. this time the plan is to head to buffalo, shop 'til we drop, and drive over to pittsburgh. i'm hoping to check out the andy warhol museum, and discover the "real" liberty street (yay queer as folk).

this picture is from two years ago, one of our first cross-border road trips when we went to visit our friend chantal (who leaves for hungary today!) in nyc. this sign is seen when you cross into pennsylvania. and yes, we did smile.

i was just thinking about adam this morning, and then i saw this picture. this is one of my favourites of him, taken from back in may when we were out painting the town red in honour of his being one year older and five years wiser.

he truly is one of my favourites. and he's been promising me dinner for weeks now.

snagged myself an invitation to go see a film this sunday at the brazil film fest happening in toronto this weekend, with screenings at the isabel theater.

we're going to see 'sons of francisco', provided i can wake up to attend the 11am screening.

garth does madonna (yes like that)

garth's performance this year was a blast! this time he did madonna, along with creating an awesome medley of a bunch different madonna songs. [features special guest performer adam]

my good friend garth is celebrating his birthday this coming weekend (he turned 29! on tuesday). every year his parties are a spectacle; he plans on 'performing' this weekend, but i thought i'd wet your appetite with an impromptu performance he did when he turned 28.

spent the weekend in niagara falls, and took a LOT of pics.
my personal favourites were the shoot we did in front of a marineland sign.
we also visited the movieland wax museum, where we took hundreds (literally) of pics all the different celebrities they had there.

they had a madonna, a shania, and even bette "middlar" but no mariah :(

election day!

anybody who knows anything about me knows that election days are like the super bowl for me. already i have CBC tuned on my tv (though they have yet to even begin their coverage at this point).

i plan on ordering dinner at some point and sitting in front of the tv for hours and wondering how this country of ours could possibly elect *another* conservative government, which is what all the pundits have been saying ad nauseam.

my predictions? conservative minority; conservative & liberal seat count will drop, ndp & bloc will go up. this "dysfunctional" parliament of ours will remain exactly the same; all leaders will stay the course after tonight, though i would expect to hear rumblings of a resignation from dion and possibly harper (if he doesn't get his coveted majority).

let's find out.

this picture was taken with rhobyn july 31st, 2007. it was me on my balcony (at that time, 25 wood street, 26th floor of the building). since there's no pic of me up on my blog (yet!), i figured what better one than this one.

yay alanis!

saw alanis tonight! was the first and time, and it was SUCH a blast. the highlight for me (other than getting some usher really angry cuz i was using my camera) was the sing-a-long i got to participate in.

imagine 10,000 alanis fans, after having gotten to see alanis perform for 2 hours, on their feet, hands clapping, with alanis trading lines with the audience who is overpowering her.

i was almost in tears, it was such an awesome experience.

that, and i think i saw the guy who runs out is through, but i'm not sure it was him. (his blog is absolutely fabulous; he's a big alanis fan and writes about all sorts of neat pop culture stuff.) not sure it was him, but between finding out about that and finding a video of the singalong (at least 20 other people were avidly using their cameras in the front few rows) so i'll hopefully have a link up here soon.

perhaps it was the experimental short film & video screening (monitor 4) i attended tonight as part of SAVAC (South Asian Visual Arts Collective) tonight. Good night. I enjoy short films, always. I've always been big on Inside Out as well as hot docs. Excited about the film-festival season coming up.
